China coronavirus deaths pass 490, global confirmed cases reach over 24,000

Kathmandu, February 5

The latest data showed that at least 490 people died of the coronavirus in China.

According to Guardian, 479 deaths occurred in Hubei province where the capital, Wuhan, is the eipicentre of the deadly outbreak. There have been 16,678 confirmed cases in the province.

The next highest number of deaths is two in the provinces of Henan, Chongqing and Heliongjiang.

As per the health authorities, 65 people died of the coronavirus in Hubei province.

The CNN quoted authorities as confirming an additional 3,156 cases of the virus in Hubei, where more than 50 million people live, which brings the total number of cases in the epicenter of the outbreak to 16,678.

 A total of 12,627 patients have been hospitalized in the province, including 771 who are in critical condition, according to the health authority. And the global number of confirmed coronavirus cases is now well over 24,000.

Similarly, there has also been one death in Hong Kong and another in Philippines.
